Editorial Policy
Last reviewed: 25 April 2026
HostCheck publishes technical guidance to help people move websites, test new hosting environments, and understand DNS-related changes before they affect live visitors. This page explains how that content is produced and maintained.
Purpose of Our Content
Our editorial goal is to publish useful material for developers, agencies, system administrators, and website owners working through practical infrastructure changes. We aim to provide clear, technically grounded guidance that supports real implementation work.
Who Writes HostCheck Articles
Articles are published under the direction of Mark Bolton, creator of HostCheck. Content is created around the workflows the site is built for: server migrations, DNS updates, staging checks, SSL setup, hosting changes, and related troubleshooting.
Where articles are updated, expanded, or corrected, editorial oversight remains with Mark Bolton so that published guidance stays aligned with the practical use of the tool and with the needs of site owners carrying out real hosting changes.
How Articles Are Reviewed
Technical usefulness
We check whether an article solves a real problem a site owner or web professional is likely to encounter.
Accuracy
We review commands, workflows, terminology, and migration steps to reduce ambiguity and prevent harmful advice.
Clarity
We prefer direct explanations, concrete examples, and actionable checklists over vague summaries.
How We Update Content
Technical guidance ages quickly. We revisit articles when hosting defaults change, browser behaviour changes, new migration patterns become standard, or readers report issues. Pages may be revised to improve accuracy, clarity, or completeness without changing the core topic.
Corrections Policy
If you believe an article contains a factual or technical error, contact us at mark@hostcehck.co.uk. Include the page URL, the section in question, and what you believe is incorrect. We review correction requests manually and update content when a problem is confirmed.
Sources and Experience
HostCheck content is based on the workflows the product itself supports and the common operational issues that occur during domain and server changes. Where appropriate, we align guidance with platform documentation, hosting best practices, and standard behaviour for web servers, DNS resolvers, and browsers.
Advertising and Editorial Independence
Advertising does not determine which topics we publish, how guides are written, or whether a correction is made. Commercial enquiries and advertising requests are handled separately from editorial review. We do not sell positive coverage or guarantee product inclusion in editorial content.
What We Avoid
- Thin pages written only to target keywords
- Advice that cannot be acted on by a reader in a practical situation
- Unclear or outdated migration steps that may cause downtime
- Sponsored claims presented as neutral technical advice
